Here are some independent schools. Unfortunately, several schools have been removed from this list in the last year and more may be gone soon.

With resort consolidation, the trend in the US is to fewer independent schools which is hurting growth. Lessons are a high margin source of revenue, so it may seem risky to choose a different strategy even if it generates more revenue. A wider product mix increases revenue with more and better choices for customers.
​
Resorts provide many opportunities for camps and coaches specializing in race training and freeskiing, but not more basic instruction that would offer the same benefits. Allowing independent schools to supplement or replace resort owned schools produces more growth in resort revenue from greater marketing, supply of lessons, program options, conversions, ancillary revenue, quality, transportation options, management motivation, and a culture of entrepreneurship that extends to the instructors.

There could be many more schools, instructors, and lessons in the US.
Instruction in Europe is much less expensive, often less than half the price of lessons in the states. Europe has a marketplace of independent schools and instructors that provide a variety range of price and program options.
